DESCRIPTION: A common enough species found in large numbers on the leaves of the host plant. It overwinters as mycelium in the root stock. The aeciospores are produced in May after the earlier (pycnia) stage has appeared in April. The pycnia stage is coloured and scented of honey. SPORES: Chocolate brown, minutely echinulate. HABITAT: On leaves of Creeping Thistle. SEASON: May to August. |
